The League Two retained lists have already started to roll in with several clubs having released theirs soon after the season ends.

Whilst the likes of Walsall, Chesterfield, Notts County and AFC Wimbledon will be waiting until after the play-offs, those who have finished their campaigns can turn their attention to their 2025/26 squad.

We take a look at some of the notable inclusions in the lists so far.

FA Cup Quarter Finalist and League Two Golden Boot Winner

Barrow under Andy Wing have become a force to be reckoned with since his move from Solihull Moors during the season. This summer will be his first chance to get to grips with the squad and forge it into his own image.

Eight players have been released including goalkeeper Paul Farman, who notably reached the FA Cup Quarter Finals with Lincoln City as well as Dom Telford, who won the League Two Golden Boot in the 2021/22 campaign for Newport County.

Also on the list is Sam Barnes, Ged Garner, Charlie Kirk, Mazeed Ogungbo, Junior Tiensia and Theo Vassell with conversations ongoing with Dean Campbell, Robbie Gotts, Elliot Newby and Kian Spence.

Cheltenham make Changes as Oldham Loanee Released

Cheltenham have opted to make some changes this summer including the release of former Port Vale and Stevenage man Tom Pett who has been on loan at National League side Oldham Athletic. Ironically their season is not over yet as they prepare for the play-offs.

Michael Flynn favourite Liam Kinsella has been offered a new contract at the club having been with him at Swindon Town and Walsall in the past.

Also on the released list is Max Harris, Owen Evans, Brandon Liggett and Ryan Bowman whilst Joe Day, Ryan Haynes, Tom Bradbury and Freddy Wilcox have been offered new deals.

Morecambe Release Their Retained Released List

Morecambe’s struggles have been no secret and their task each season has not been made any easier by the task of having to rebuild the entire squad each year. As Derek Adams plans for the National League only one player is officially retained Gqion Edwards. However, options have been triggered for Harry Burgoyne, Luke Hendrie, Harvey MacAdam, Jamie Stott, Ben Tollitt, David Tutonda and Tom White.

12 players are currently out of contract, including Callum Cooke, Hallam Hope, George Ray and more. But they have been able to offer new terms to Lee Angol, Adam Lewis and Paul Lewis.

Clean Slate for Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere Rovers are hoping to have a brighter campaign next season. They were flirting with relegation for periods and with renewed optimism from the takeover there is a new opportunity to start again next year. Six players have been retained, with a further three having extensions activated in their contracts. Seven players are released including Luke Norris, Tom Davies and Kieron Morris whilst there are ongoing discussions with a host of players including Regan Hendry, Lee O’Connor and Joe Murphy.
