Former Lincoln City Manager Set To Land Vacant League Two Managerial Role

Lincoln City news

Former Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley is set to land the vacant managerial position at League Two side Colchester United, according to TalkSport journalist Alex Crook.

The 45-year-old has been without a role since January 2023 when he parted ways with League One side Portsmouth and has been patiently awaiting a return to the managerial dugout and it appears as though he’s taken a major step towards doing so.

Colchester United recently parted company with manager Matthew Etherington after a disappointing run of form, despite jumping over numerous hurdles to land him as manager to begin with, following a public standoff against fellow League Two side Crawley Town.

The Cowley’s have managed the likes of Braintree Town, Huddersfield Town and Portsmouth but they are best known for their spell in charge of Lincoln City, taking them from the National League into League One as well as making history in the FA Cup in the process.

At Sincil Bank, Cowley took charge of 176 matches, winning 95 of them and averaged a very impressive 1.86 points per game during his time with the football club. This was achieved over a three-year period and he will forever be known as a hero for the League One side.

Colchester United currently sit 22nd in League Two, just five points above the relegation zone although they have played a game more than the side directly below them. Meanwhile Forest Green Rovers (24th) have two matches in hand and are just six points behind.

Posting a short update onto social media, journalist Alex Crook stated…

Danny Cowley to ColU (Colchester United) is on I believe.’

Writer’s View

The Cowley’s are a well-respected managerial duo who have enjoyed a lot of highs in their career so far and will now be targeting safety for Colchester United this season.

The club travel to Swindon Town this weekend, hoping to push away from the relegation zone and will receive a much needed transfer boost with the Cowley’s arrival.
