Former Premier League winner Jamie Vardy looks set to finally find a new club after leaving Leicester City, with the striker reportedly set on a move to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Vardy brought his record-breaking tenure with the Foxes to a close this summer, with 500 appearances and 200 goals to his name, along with a Premier League, FA Cup, and Community Shield trophy.

The now 38-year-old also scored in 11 consecutive Premier League games, meaning he broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s long-standing record for this feat. He also won the 2019-20 Golden Boot, becoming the oldest player to ever do so.

However, his illustrious career with Leicester is now over, and it seems that after a long summer of rumours, Vardy could soon find his new club.

Vardy to Celtic?

According to Football League World, Jamie Vardy is very keen on making a move to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership after his contract expired with Leicester City.

Vardy was linked with a move to the ever-ambitious Birmingham City, which never came to fruition, but his long wait for a new club could end with Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side.

Vardy reportedly ‘has his heart set’ on a move to the Bhoys, and it would certainly be a big coup for Rodgers to bring in a forward with the 38-year-old’s pedigree.

The Right Move for Vardy?

The Englishman has certainly taken his time with his decision on his new club, which would lead most to believe that if Celtic is the choice for him, it will be one that he has decided definitely works the best for him.

Celtic have a lot of attacking talent already in their squad, with players such as Adam Idah and Benjamin Nygren already at the club. However, you cannot argue against a striker who possesses the quality and experience that Vardy does.

He may have to compete for game time if he makes the move to Scotland, but it is a huge chance for Vardy to add more trophies to his repertoire if he can continue to compete at the level.

A Boost To Celtic’s Trophy Hopes?

There is no question that Celtic would relish the chance to bring in a former Premier League winner with a huge goalscoring pedigree; however, at 38 years old, there are some slight concerns with a deal for Vardy.

A player like him does not come cheap, and although there is no transfer fee involved due to the Englishman being a free agent, his wages will still be demanding for any club to take on.

However, with the experience he brings to any club, not just in the sense of on the pitch, it seems like a no-brainer deal for the Bhoys to add Vardy to their ranks if the finances with the deal are reasonable.
