Premier League side Fulham has forged ahead with negotiations with Serie A club AC Milan over a potential deal for Samuel Chukwueze.
The Cottagers have begun their season with two Premier League draws, and are targeting offensive reinforcements in the closing days of the transfer window.
The Nigerian winger previously made over 150 appearances for Villarreal in Spain before making the switch to Milan.
According to Alex Crook, the 26-year-old could be set to make a move to the English top-flight with Marco Silva’s side keen on a permanent transfer.
Fulham Eyes More Attacking Quality
Fulham enjoyed a season of solidity in the previous campaign, winning more games than they lost in the Premier League.
Having established an industrious and together group of players, manager Marco Silva will potentially be setting his sights on a European spot this term.
Chukwueze, who predominantly operates as a right midfielder, would provide competition for places at Craven Cottage.
The Portuguese boss already has the likes of Alex Iwobi, Adama Traore, Harry Wilson, and Martial Godo to choose from in the wide areas.
A potential arrival of Samuel Chukwueze to West London will provide Fulham with a direct and dynamic new addition to their attacking weaponry.
Serie A Midfielder Set For New Adventure
While Chukwueze has shown glimpses of his undoubted talent during his stint at the San Siro, he has struggled to provide a consistent goal threat.
In 70 appearances for Milan, the 26-year-old has managed just 14 goal contributions.
Having fallen out of favour under Sergio Conceicao in the second half of last season, a move away was always a possibility for Chukwueze.
Now that Massimiliano Allegri has returned to the San Siro, the opportunity has arisen for him to fight for his place. However, with interest from Fulham growing, a change of scenery might be just what he needs to reignite his career.
He did make an appearance off the bench for AC Milan in their Serie A opener against Cremonese. His fleeting role is further evidence of his fall down the pecking order at The Rossoneri.
As reported by Matteo Moretto, it would take a total package in the region of €25m to prize the Nigerian away from Milan.
Is This Deal Beneficial For Fulham and Chukwueze?
Throughout Marco Silva’s tenure at Fulham, a consistent theme of their playing style has focused on delivering quality service to their frontmen.
With Rodrigo Muniz, and Raul Jimenez at their disposal, they possess a pair of potent strikers that thrive off the good work of their teammates.
The Nigeria international has a point to prove after an indifferent spell in Serie A. Capped 46 times by his national team, Chukwueze needs this next move to be a fruitful period in his career.
Linking up with his Nigerian compatriots Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage could inspire Chukwueze to rediscover his early career promise.
