“He seems to have avoided a lot of scrutiny” The League One Sack Race – Pundits Have Their Say

League One has already seen changes in the management of a couple of its clubs with Neil Critchley and Scott Lindsey both departing for different reasons.

There are several managers who the pressure might be hotting up for as the fixtures come thick and fast.  The hosts at the League One Lowdown podcast have been speaking on their latest episode on a few of teams who could look to make a change in the near future.

Cambridge United – Garry Monk

The two sides without a win so far this season, both on a losing streak of three and four games respectively and occupying two of the four relegation spots.

On Cambridge United

“I think Cambridge are just a bit lost, we know they like to give their managers time.

“I know that Garry Monk was sent off last night (in the game vs Rotherham United)

“Convenient with the statement that was released before the game (on Monk appearing before the press)

“It is a weird one. Garry Monk, it has clearly not worked out at all for them.

“The longer they keep Monk in the less time they have to do something about it”

“Cambridge have been toying with relegation for the last two years and they have been incredibly lucky that there were four worse teams.

Burton Albion – Mark Robinson

On Burton Albion

“Burton is an interesting one, it was an exciting appointment”

“I’m not going to say they followed the Lincoln guide but getting an under 21s manager from an established side.

“You’d think, with Chelsea being known for bringing through a lot of youth players

“He seems to be struggling with that step up, but then again so did Michael Skubala at Lincoln City to start with.

“He probably has a bit more time there (than Garry Monk). He has time but at the moment they are heading in the wrong direction”

Peterborough United – Darren Ferguson

Although not immediately in trouble, especially considering his long long standing relationship with the club. The Posh have not started the season well and have recorded only one win in the last five, leading some to question what is going on?

“They have won one in five, but they have a plethora of injuries to defenders.

“Hector Kyprianou also went off last night, so another injury to add to the list. So injuries are starting to pile up for The Posh.

“But they still have that quality in attacking areas.

“We’ve never really spoken about Darren Ferguson as this is his what third spell?

“He seems to have avoided a lot of scrutiny

“Peterborough have a habit of hiring old managers, what are the odds Grant McCann comes knocking on Darragh McAnthony’s door?
