Huddersfield Plot Raid For League One Man

Huddersfield Town have set their sights on securing the services of Bolton Wanderers defender George Thomason in a six-figure swoop.

The Terriers have already been very busy in the transfer market, adding an abundance of talent to their squaad after failing to make the top six last season.

However, it appears as though Huddersfield’s transfer activities are far from over and more money is likely to be spent before the new season gets underway next month.

Thomason to Huddersfield?

As reported by journalist Alan Nixon, Huddersfield Town are lining up a permanent swoop for Bolton Wanderers skipper George Thomason in the coming days.

The 23-year-old was an integral part of Bolton’s 2024/25 campaign, featuring in almost every league game for the club whilst contributing to a handful of goals.

He’s under contract at Bolton until June 2027, and is set to cost the Terriers roughly £750,000 but that could be the total cost or the initial fee before extras are added on to the deal.

How did he fare last season?

After contributing to 16 goals in 51 games during the 2023/24 season, Thomason quickly picked up where he left off for the League One side.

He registered his first goal contribution of the season during his second outing in an EFL Cup victory against Mansfield Town and played an integral part in helping to keep clean sheets early on.

However, after Christmas is where Thomason soon began picking up goal contributions.

In total, he registered eight goals and assists in 46 appearances for the football club and was a constant threat for the League One side.

Is this a good signing for Huddersfield?

Thomason is a proven League One footballer and has played a key role for Bolton Wanderers as they continue to try and push for a Championship return.

During the previous two seasons, he’s contributed to 24 goals and has been a proven leader for Bolton, which is something that Huddersfield want in their ranks themselves.

Adding players that are proven leaders in the division is certainly a smart piece of business and with the fee seemingly affordable, there are a lot of things to like about this proposed transfer unless you support Bolton of course.
