League One Huddersfield Town have been described as “not a superstar team” by League One Lowdown host and broadcaster Callum Davis.
The Terriers have had a difficult start to the League One season, finding themselves in ninth place. More notably the club have lost three league games, an EFL Trophy game and an FA Cup game, taking it to five defeats on the trot.
This has caused a dramatic increase in pressure on manager Lee Grant. The former Manchester United coach is under the microscope, not just for the results but also the team’s style which has been hard to watch so far.
Kevin Nagle put his support behind Grant in a recent interview, describing him as the “right man”.
Huddersfield Town “A Team of Superstars but Not a Superstar Team”
League One Lowdown host Callum Davis appeared on an episode with co-host Seb Jones and was asked about the situation regarding Lee Grant.
“One man who is not building his reputation… is Lee Grant”.
“The overall feeling here is that it is a team of superstars but not a superstar team”
“They are really struggling with that team cohesion”
“They probably have, position by position one of the best elevens in the league”
“But they don’t have a great team at all do they”
Seb Jones added
“It is bizarre really as they started the season so well, and so full of positivity”.
“Now they have just completely dipped off”
Lee Grant Under Pressure
With a small dip in form, the owner could be understood in not wanting to be reactive to a couple of defeats. However, five in a row is a clear trend and with tensions high, bridges are already burning with the fanbase.
It is clear for anyone watching Huddersfield Town that they do have a good squad, with talented players. But Grant is currently unable to get the best out of them for whatever reason. It is hard to see a way out of it for him, or the club without significant change.
