Huddersfield Town Agree Deal For Premier League Goalkeeper

Huddersfield Town are looking to put a disappointing 2024/25 campaign behind them with an active start to the summer transfer window. The club is now reportedly on the verge of securing what may be its most impressive deal to date.

The Terriers have appointed Lee Grant to lead their promotion charge next season after six consecutive defeats to end the most recent campaign, which ended their hopes of a play-off finish.

Huddersfield Town Start Transfer Window With Intent

The club appear to have identified multiple areas for improvement as they seek to regain a place in the Championship after falling into League One in 2024 for the first time since the 2011/12 season, then under the stewardship of Simon Grayson.

The backline has been strengthened in the form of Joe Low from Wycombe Wanderers, Murray Wallace from Millwall and Sean Roughan from Lincoln City.

Low played 38 times in the third tier for Wycombe, scoring four goals. He ranked in the top five at the club for interceptions, clearances and blocks and has the potential to become a leading defender at this level with the right guidance. The 23-year-old is a former Wales under-21 international and will, at the very least, provide an increase in depth in the heart of the defence.

Roughan is accomplished in the centre of defence or a left-back role. Only Reeco Hackett made more accurate crosses than the Irish defender in 2024/25 at Lincoln City, who ranked in the top three for successful tackles at the Imps last season.

Wallace is an experienced operator at Championship level and played over 220 times for Millwall. He made 11 appearances last season after losing his place in the first team and dropping down to League One should see him continue to perform at a high level due to his vast experience.

Ryan Ledson and Marcus Harness have also been drafted in to what has been a busy start to the transfer window for Huddersfield Town. The defence has been strengthened as outlined with the three names above, and they may now have a new man between the sticks behind them in 2025/26.

Loan Deal Agreed For Crystal Palace Goalkeeper

One of the standout stars in AFC Wimbledon’s promotion-winning campaign from League Two was goalkeeper Owen Goodman, the former England under-20 shot stopper who arrived on loan from Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old played in all 49 matches as the Dons won the play-offs, and his record of 24 clean sheets, including one in each of the play-off ties, was a major reason the club secured a return to League One.

Based on his performances to date, Goodman is destined to play at a higher level, and he will be moving up a division if reports are to be believed. Pete O’Rourke has announced on X that the former Colchester United loanee is set for a medical this week after the Terriers and Crystal Palace agreed terms on a loan deal.

If the deal does go through, Huddersfield Town will have significantly strengthened in defence and upgraded their number one keeper, in a major show of their ambition to be in the promotion picture next season.
