Huddersfield Town Backed to Secure Former Rotherham United Manager

Huddersfield Town

League One Huddersfield Town have been backed to secure former Rotherham United manager Paul Warne after he turned down the approach of MK Dons by an EFL expert.

Warne has been out of work since departing Derby County in February 2025 having achieved promotion in the season prior. He was recently linked to the vacancy at League Two MK Dons, but reports claimed he turned down the chance to join them.

Huddersfield on the other hand parted company with Michael Duff earlier in the season and placed Jon Worthington in interim charge until the end of the season. However, a string of poor results have pushed the need to an appointment sooner rather than later. Their thrashing at the hands of Burton Albion has piled on the misery and dropped them further from the play-off spots.

“Devoid of Ideas” Huddersfield Town Slammed by EFL Expert

Huddersfield Town Backed to Secure Paul Warne

EFL expert and MK Dons fan Luke Payne has suggested exclusively to THE DECK that Huddersfield should make the move to tie down Paul Warne before he is snapped up by another club. It is suggested that he likely turned down the role at MK Dons to pursue a job in League One with the Terriers a potential destination.

“Warne is a serial promotion winner, something that Huddersfield Town desperately need right now. The fact he has turned down MK Dons is an indicator he still thinks he can do a job in League One.”

“There is that Yorkshire connection which may come into play, but on paper he has got clubs out of League One on four occasions, including Derby County who had been languishing in division for too long.”

Would Warne be an Option for Huddersfield Town?

Warne’s stock has fallen slightly since his promotion winning season with Derby County, but he is still well regarded amongst League One pundits and professionals. He knows what it takes to get a club out of the third division, he may struggle once he is up but that is a question the club can solve once they have achieved promotion.
