Huddersfield Town outcast Joe Taylor could be on the verge of leaving the club in order to see out the remainder of the season at Wigan Athletic.
It has been a very tough year for the former Lincoln City man in West Yorkshire, playing just 630 minutes over 19 League One appearances. While he has delivered on occasion with seven goals and two assists, he is firmly behind Bojan Radulovic in Lee Grant’s plans.
Latics Enter Talks
According to a new report from Football League World, Huddersfield could give Taylor a way out of the club for the rest of the year, beginning talks over a loan which would see the 23-year-old join Wigan Athletic.
Ryan Lowe’s side have been in the market for a striker this January following Paul Mullin’s exit, with names like Kusini Yengi and Ronan Hale from the Scottish leagues both linked with a move to the Brick Community Stadium.
Having joined from Luton Town in a reported £3 million move, Taylor has struggled to impress at the Terriers, scoring nine times across 42 appearances as they have struggled to make their way back into the Championship.
It would mark the latest exit from the Kirklees Stadium, with Ben Wiles’ exit to Milton Keynes Dons, Owen Goodman’s loan cancellation and Leo Castledine’s recall by Chelsea in order to move to Middlesbrough.
Some incomings are expected, in the form of Plymouth Argyle’s Bali Mumba and he could be potentially joined by Charlie Webster, as revealed by The Deck earlier this week.
A Coup For Wigan
In their search for a replacement striker to support Christian Saydee and Dara Costelloe, it seems that Wigan Athletic might have hit the jackpot if they can secure a loan move for Joe Taylor.
It has been a horrific time for him at the Terriers, and despite inconsistent form for Bojan Radulovic up until recently, it seems as if the Wales international was not given enough time to prove his worth following a £3 million transfer.
Should he be able to recapture the form he displayed for Lincoln City in this division a few seasons ago, Ryan Lowe will have one of the best forwards in the league and could certainly put Wigan back into playoff contention.
However, for Huddersfield, it will be a big mark of their downfall in recent years, wasting such a large sum on a player who hasn’t worked out, only to loan him away just a year after his arrival.
