Huddersfield Town Owner Gives Comment on Lee Grant’s Future

Huddersfield Town Stadium

Pressure has been mounting on League One Huddersfield Town boss Lee Grant. Three defeats in a row has prompted the usual cornerflag.jpg tweets after the final whistle.

The losses to Bolton Wanderers, 10-man Stockport County and Harrogate Town in the EFL Trophy have led to questions over whether the former Man Utd man would be at the helm to face Wycombe Wanderers this Saturday.

However, he has survived and has been given a vote of confidence from owner Kevin Nagle. Huddersfield Town currently sit in 8th (prior to today’s fixture against the Chairboys) just outside the play-off spots. Promotion is the aim and when the club dropped out of the top six last season it cost the manager his job.

The season is still only just a quarter of the way through, giving plenty of time for the abundance of talent in the squad to come good.

Nagle Backs Lee Grant as the “Right Man” for Huddersfield Town

Speaking as part of a wide-ranging interview with the Yorkshire Post, Kevin Nagle gave his view on the current situation.

“There were always going to be bumps in the road but I’m confident that in Lee Grant that we have the right guy. He works hard and he knows what he is doing.

“What we are doing behind the scenes is creating the environment for success.”

This clear backing will come as a welcome boost as they travel to Wycombe for today’s fixture.

Huddersfield Town Talent Not Clicking

Huddersfield Town have, arguably, one of the best squads in League One, certainly so in terms of strength in depth. However, some of their stars are not quite clicking yet. Top talents such as Sean Roughan and Alfie May have not quite captured the form that was expected of them. In fact, the latter’s position in the team (or lack thereof) is a constant point used to highlight Lee Grant’s struggles.

It is clear that Grant still isn’t sure on his favoured XI and that has impacted their effectiveness on the pitch and quite often the style on display. If he is able to firmly work out his starting line-up and give them the opportunity to showcase their clear talent, then they should be up or around the automatic spots. Until then, questions will continue to be raised.
