Hull City look to be finalising their preparations for the new season’s opener against Bristol City with another summer signing.
The Tigers have had a quiet pre-season with the highlight being a draw against Italian side Fiorentina, with losses to Newcastle, Fenerbahce, Doncaster and Reading.
Defensively they have brought in Ryan Giles from Luton Town and Cody Drameh from Leeds United, with them looking to bolster the attack and defence before the window shuts.
Millar to become the latest Tiger.
According to reports from Canadian journalist Matthew Scianitti, Liam Millar looks set to join Hull from Swiss side FC Basel, ahead of Saturday’s season opener.
The report suggests that Millar will be flying into London shortly to complete paperwork and also complete his medical ahead of his €3.5m permanent move.
How did he do last season?
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Championship side, Preston North End, where he made 36 appearances for the club in all competitions, as well as a constant in the Canadian national side at the 2024 Copa America.
In those 36 games for Preston, he managed to score five goals and gain five assists, which helped Preston get a 10th-place finish before returning to his parent club in Switzerland.
Is he a good fit for Hull?
Millar enjoyed a decent season last time out with his goal contributions just being in the double figures from a wide position.
His experience of already having a full season of Championship football under his belt will be a great addition to this Hull side, hoping to push them just one step further into those playoff spots after a narrow miss last time out.
Millar also has a good amount of experience at the international level with him representing his country 32 times and netting once, another attribute that could be beneficial to this Tigers side.
However, losing Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves looks to be a huge loss with both of them moving up into the Premier League.
