Ipswich Town are eyeing a move for Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison as commence their preparations for next season.
Jebbison is out of contract with the relegated Premier League club and is yet to commit to a new deal. The 20-year-old will be free to move to the Tractor Boys, however it will require the payment of compensation due to his age. This can either be agreed between the two clubs, or set by a tribunal who will take into account his potential, experience and age when calculating a value. Keiran McKenna’s side is willing to sign the player regardless of whether they secure promotion or not according to Alan Nixon.
Who Is Ipswich Town Target Jebbison?
Jebbison has progressed his way through the Blades’ academy but has only made 34 appearances for the first team. His most significant spell was during a six-month loan at League One Burton Albion in the first half of the 2021/22 season. He contributed nine goals in 23 appearances before returning to his parent club in January. Since the 22/23 season, he has failed to make a senior appearance.
One Up One Down
Sheffield United had their relegation from the Premier League confirmed after losing to Newcastle United 5-1, leaving them 10 points from safety with just three games remaining. Ipswich on the other hand are keeping pace with leaders Leicester City and Leeds United with just four points between the three sides. The trio are competing for just two automatic spots with the lowest place side having to rely on the play-offs to achieve promotion. The Tractor Boys sit equal on points with second-placed Leeds United, but also hold a game in hand on Daniel Farke’s side. Ipswich face Coventry City then a struggling Huddersfield Town, whilst Leeds only have Southampton left to play meaning the Championship season will go down to the last game.
