Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has been backed to land a job at one of two Premier League clubs this season.
The Portuguese manager has made no secret of his love of the Premier League over the years, having managed the Blues on two occasions, the Red Devils and Tottenham Hotspur. He was most recently in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahçe, but was sacked after a poor period.
He was one of three former Manchester United bosses sacked within a few days with Erik ten Hag and Ole Gunnar Solskjær also losing their jobs.
Jose has been linked to several roles, including the Brazilian National Team prior to Carlo Ancelotti taking over and most recently Celtic. But a return to the Premier League would likely be his dream.
Jose Mourinho Premier League Return Identified
Two Premier League managers are in serious risk of losing their jobs in the coming weeks. West Ham United’s Graham Potter and Leeds United’s Daniel Farke. Both clubs, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook may look to make Mourinho their new manager.
Potter has seriously struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium. They sit 16th in the league after three games, but have not shown much in the way of promise. Pressure has been mounting on Potter to turn around their form and with a second international break just weeks away a change could be made sooner rather than later.
Farke nearly lost his job prior to the start of the season. It was widely reported that the club were considering a change, despite winning promotion to the Premier League. The board felt that the manager lacked the credentials to make it in the topflight. Despite a reasonable start for a promoted side his job is still very much on the line. They may act to get Mourinho before West Ham opt to take action.
Can Jose Turn Around West Ham United or Leeds United?
The challenge would certainly be a different one for the “Special One”. In much of his career he has been in charge of one of the biggest clubs in the league. This is especially true of the Premier League, with his former clubs all forming part of the “big six”.
However, as football has progressed Jose’s preferred methods of playing have been left behind by many of the big clubs. They are no longer content with direct; counter attacking football and prefer the “Pep” blueprint. His methods are focused on results over anything else and it could end up being especially useful towards the mid to lower ranger of the Premier League, where clubs will often come and dominate possession. Potter especially but Farke as well play very different styles of football, so there will be question marks over whether the players can adapt to a results first style of play. But one thing is for sure, Jose in the Premier League always means drama.
