Reports linking Norwich City with a return for former loanee Hwang Ui-Jo and an exit for Adam Idah have been met with cold water, according to a report from journalist Connor Southwell.
Ui-Jo spent the first half of the season on loan with the Championship side before being recalled and his reunion would have created a path for Irish international Idah to leave Carrow Road.
Who are the duo?
Beginning with Ui-Jo, the 31-year-old began his career in Asian football before moving to Europe with Bordeaux in 2019. After three years, he signed for Nottingham Forest and has since experienced a few loan exits but had an enjoyable time with Norwich.
At Carrow Road, Ui-Jo made 18 appearances in all competitions, whilst contributing to four goals in the process.
Meanwhile, Adam Idah is a product of Norwich City’s youth setup having made the move from Ireland in 2017. The 22-year-old has made 33 appearances for Norwich City so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing an additional assist thus far.
Why was Ui-Jo recalled?
Ui-Jo arrived at Carrow Road during the summer transfer window and was expected to remain at the Championship side until the end of the 2023/24 season.
However, the South Korean forward suffered a hamstring injury which forced Nottingham Forest into recalling the player prematurely, leaving the door open for a possible reunion or alternative loan move once he had returned to full fitness.
What’s been said?
Confirming the news that the Norwich City report was false, journalist Connor Southwell stated…
‘There is no truth in reports that Adam Idah could depart Norwich City this month and that Hwang Ui-Jo could re-join the club on loan.’
According to Southwell, Ui-Jo is ‘too expensive’ for a loan deal again at this stage of the window whilst Adam Idah is set to be involved in their FA Cup match against Liverpool on Sunday and won’t be leaving the club this month.
Writer’s View
Adam Idah has been one of Norwich City’s better players this season after finally being given the consistent opportunity to burst onto the scene at Carrow Road.
Meanwhile, Ui-Jo didn’t have the best of impacts during his time with the club, which makes a potential reunion very unlikely at this current stage of the window.
