Chesterfield’s Armando Dobra is gathering a plethora of interest, with a host of League One and Championship sides circling the Albanian forward.
Dobra has started the season off well, scoring twice in five League Two appearances. Multiple Championship and League One sides have shown interest in signing the 24-year-old.
Tallying two goals in the opening four fixtures this season, the Albanian has been a standout for the Derbyshire outfit since joining in 2022.
Championship and League One Clubs Battle for Dobra
According to Football Insider, Derby County and Portsmouth are among a host of clubs chasing Chesterfield attacker Armando Dobra.
Oxford United of the Championship are also interested, as well as Barnsley, Luton Town, Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool, and Reading of League One.
Having come through the academy at Ipswich Town, a move would mark a return to the higher divisions for the forward.
Playing a bit-part role for the Tractor boys between 2019 and 2021, the forward showed promise at Portman Road but did not quite make the cut for consistent game time.
Any deal would be permanent and would require a sizeable fee for the 24-year-old. Chesterfield are reluctant to lose their prized asset. With the transfer deadline fast approaching, the Spireites hold all the power.
How Did Dobra Fare for Chesterfield Last Season?
Dobra netted nine times and assisted twice in Chesterfield’s first season back in League Two. The former Albanian U21 international was also a key part of the side that won the National League in 2023/2024.
He is a versatile option in the attack. Primarily playing on either wing, the 24-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder and up front. This trait makes him an attractive option for sides further up the pyramid.
The Spireites have enjoyed a fine start to the season, with four wins and one loss to start the season for Paul Cook’s side. The former Ipswich Town man has netted twice in his five League Two appearances.
His impressive three years in Derbyshire have put several Championship and League One sides on high alert, with the business end of the window approaching.
How Likely Is A Deal?
With Dobra only being 24 and having ambitions to play higher than League Two, a deal is very likely going through by next Monday’s deadline.
When clubs from higher up the pyramid come sniffing, it’s hard to say no, especially with Dobra’s ability and potential.
Although the forward is more than capable of playing in the Championship, a move to a promotion challenger in League One could be the more sensible move.
This way, Dobra can challenge himself in a higher league whilst getting more minutes compared to joining a Championship club now.
Although a fee is required, Dobra is expected to move on from the Spireites in the coming week.
However, with a wide range of clubs emerging as potential suitors, it will be interesting to see where the forward’s decision lies.
