The League Two supercomputer has been updated following the latest round of fixtures and has predicted a new title winner as well as an interesting play-off roster.
Yesterday’s fixtures saw 10-man Bradford City drop points against Swindon Town, two red cards in the draw between promotion chasing Doncaster Rovers and AFC Wimbledon, Walsall continue to lose, Colchester pick up points and Port Vale thrash Andy Woodman‘s Bromley.
These results have all had an impact on the potential final places for the teams with the supercomputer now changing its mind on a few outcomes.
Champions – Port Vale
Port Vale are now predicted to take top spot in the league, with 83 points with their victory over Bromley changing their previous predicted finish of third to first after their rivals dropped points. The 83 point total is reasonably low for a league win, which perhaps demonstrates the competitive and close nature of this season.
Automatics – Walsall and Bradford City
Despite the drop off in form our supercomputer is still predicted that Walsall will just have enough to hang onto a spot in the automatics coming second with 80 points. They are joined by Bradford City who have shown some impressive form themselves, but were beaten after a needless tackle by Richie Smallwood left them unable to keep Ian Holloway’s rejuvenated Swindon Town at bay.
Play-Offs – Doncaster Rovers, AFC Wimbledon, Notts County, Colchester United
The play-off roster looks to be a solid line up of experienced and ambitious sides. Doncaster Rovers will face Colchester United in the semi-finals if our predictions are correct with AFC Wimbledon forced to battle Notts County for a spot in the final. Notably the likes of Salford City, Chesterfield, Crewe Alexandra and Grimsby Town all miss out to Danny Cowley’s side who take the final spot.
Relegation – Morecambe and Carlisle United
The one prediction that has shown little change throughout the campaign. Carlisle United are predicted to come bottom of the table, with Morecambe joining them in the National League next season.
