Leicester City Man Close to Premier League Return

Leicester City

One of Leicester City’s key players is close to a return to the Premier League. If it happens, it could be a big blow to the Foxes’ hopes of promotion.

The Foxes started their return to the Championship with a narrow 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day.

Luckily, this summer, they’ve managed to keep the majority of their team from last season. The biggest loss to their side this summer was Jamie Vardy departing at the end of his contract.

However, with the transfer window nearing its end, Leicester City could be about to lose their opening game captain, James Justin.

Leeds United in Advanced Talks for James Justin

Ben Jacobs shared on his X that recently promoted Premier League side, Leeds United, are in advanced talks to bring Justin to Elland Road.

Although no more was shared than that, it’s a signing that will likely excite Leeds United fans ahead of the new season.

Justin’s Premier League Experience

Right back Justin has played 99 games in the Premier League, more than he has in any other league. His experience will be crucial for Leeds this season as they look to end the run of promoted teams getting relegated straight away.

Last season in the Premier League, Justin played 36 games in the league, starting 34 games altogether. He averaged 81 minutes per game and received an average Sofascore rating of 6.81 – the fifth highest in the Foxes squad.

In what was a tough season for Leicester City, Justin had four goal contributions (two goals and two assists) and helped the side keep two clean sheets in total.

Individually, Justin ended the season with 1.3 interceptions per game, 1.6 tackles per game, 2.4 balls recovered per game, and 3.2 clearances per game. Going forward, Justin averaged 0.4 key passes per game and a pass accuracy of 78%.

Is This a Good Move for Justin?

A return to the Premier League is likely what Justin would have wanted this summer. He captained Leicester in their opening game against the Owls, but that could potentially be his last home game for the club.

Leeds will be up against it this season, just like Leicester were last season. The experience Justin has battling for safety could be crucial to Leeds if they want to beat the drop this campaign.

For Leicester, if Justin leaves, it will be a big blow. Justin is key to their squad and keeping him only boosts their chances of a return to the Premier League. Luckily, if he does depart, they have time to find a replacement if they feel it’s necessary.
