It’s been a summer of rebuild at Leicester City after their relegation from the Premier League last season. Marti Cifuentes was brought in to replace Ruud Van Nistelrooy in the managerial hotseat.
Many outgoings have occurred at the King Power. Jamie Vardy, James Justin, Kasey McAteer, Mads Hermansen and Wilfred Ndidi have all left Leicester this summer in permanent moves. Another star player has been lined up for an exit before Monday’s deadline.
Leicester City Star Man Cut From Squad Amidst Circulating Rumours
For the second game in a row, Leicester City star man, Bilal El Khannouss, has been left out of their matchday squad.
The Foxes prepared to take on Birmingham City on Friday night. It was a two-nil win as Leicester ended Blues’ unbeaten start to the campaign. Birmingham spent big in the summer again, after a record-breaking promotion from League One last season.
El Khannouss has been linked with moves to Premier League clubs Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur. All three sides are battling it out for the Moroccan’s signature as the window comes to a close.
Leicester have enjoyed a fine start to the season. The Foxes have won three out of four, with their only loss coming against Preston North End at Deepdale. Additionally, Cifuentes hasn’t been afraid to trust youth, with 16 year old Jeremy Monga and 17 year old Louis Page being handed starts in the win against Charlton Athletic.
El Khannouss Premier League Rumours
Leeds, Palace and Spurs are all showing genuine interest in securing the 21 year old’s services on a permanent deal. Leicester are holding out for at least £30 million, after signing the attacking midfielder from KRC Genk last summer for a reported €22 million.
El Khannouss played 32 Premier League games last season, scoring just twice and assisting three. However, it’s his flair, potential and directness on the ball that have alerted the Premier League sides mentioned above.
After starring in a poor Leicester side, Spurs and Palace are both wondering what the 21 year old could do in a better side.
After the injury to James Maddison and the sale of Eberechi Eze, El Khannouss would get regular game time at both London clubs. However, Spurs would be the more attractive club, as they boast Champions League football over Palace’s Conference League.
Wherever the Moroccan goes, he is sure to bring his silky skills and mazy dribbles that lift fans off of their seats.
