Leicester City are reportedly ready to make a move to sign former Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo.

Leicester are preparing for life in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League last season. The Foxes won the league last time they were in the second tier, and they may hope for a similar return to the top flight this season.

They have not made a signing this summer window, but it seems they are ready to make a move for former Forest defender Toffolo.

The 29-year-old left the Premier League side in June after his contract expired, making him available to sign as a free transfer.

Toffolo signed for Forest in 2022, joining from Huddersfield Town, making 57 appearances in three years.

Foxes ready move for Toffolo

According to Alan Nixon, Leicester City are ready to make a move for former Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo.

The Foxes are ready to move to the 29-year-old if current left-back Victor Kristiansen leaves the club this window.

Nixon also reported that Toffolo would jump at a move to the Championship side if Kristiansen does leave this summer.

The left-back would be available to sign on a free transfer after leaving Forest in June.

How did Toffolo fare last season?

The 29-year-old struggled for gametime last season under manager Nuno Espirito Santo as the Reds qualified for European football.

Toffolo made only a handful of appearances for Forest in the league, playing four times, making one start in a 2-1 win versus Tottenham Hotspur, where his goal-line heroics helped the Reds pick up a valuable three points.

The defender played a key role for Nuno’s side in the FA Cup, making three appearances for Forest as they reached the semi-finals, where they lost 2-0 to Manchester City.

Overall, Toffolo made seven appearances for Forest last season as they qualified for European football and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Would this be a good signing for Leicester?

The Foxes were relegated from the top tier of English football last season after finishing 18th in the Premier League. The last time Leicester were in the Championship, they won the league with 97 points, and they may look to repeat this and gain promotion back to the top flight.

To do this, though, they may need to make some new signings to help improve their side, and one player who could strengthen the Foxes squad is Harry Toffolo.

The 29-year-old has previous experience in the Championship, making 99 appearances, scoring nine times and assisting 15.

This experience could be a good asset to have, as it shows he knows the league well, which could make it easier for him to hit the ground running.

Toffolo has also shown he can play as a wing-back as well as a left-back. This could give the next Leicester manager a chance to operate the defender in different roles depending on the formation and style of play.

Signing on a free transfer could make it less of a risk for Leicester, as they won’t have to pay a considerable fee for him.

This could be a good signing for Leicester, offering a smart replacement for Kristiansen. They would be getting a defender with experience in the division and who is capable of playing in different roles to suit the manager’s style of football.

It will be interesting to see if Leicester can sign Toffolo for the upcoming Championship campaign.
