Leyton Orient are interested in a move for Watford full-back James Morris, but will have to wait for other transfers in order to make a move.

Richie Wellens’ side have not had a good season so far, sitting in 18th place as they enter the back stretch of their League One campaign and are now in the market looking to improve their fortunes.

Morris Deal Hangs In Balance

According to Sky Sports’ transfer reporter Luca Bendoni, Leyton Orient are interested in a deal for the Watford full-back as Orient look to replace the outgoing Tayo Adaramola.

Both the wing-back and fellow Premier League loanee Joe Wright were sent packing from Brisbane Road last week, with the latter now a reported target for Bradford City.

The Crystal Palace man’s exit has led to Wellens using right-back Tom James on the opposite flank, which perhaps highlights their need for a new option in the position.

While Watford are willing to allow Morris to leave the club this season, his exit depends on the Hornets finding a new option in the position.

The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impression this season, playing just four minutes of action in the Championship, a far cry from his place as a regular option in past seasons.

His case for a first-team place at Vicarage Road has been no doubt hindered by his performance in the FA Cup Third Round match against Bristol City over the weekend, conceding five goals as Javi Gracia’s side were dumped out in unceremonious fashion.

Move Away Best Option

James Morris is firmly out of Watford’s plans going forward, so leaving and making a move down to League One would be a great step to take.

Marc Bola arrived in the summer on a free transfer and has been a great option for Javi Gracia, delivering some great performances as the Hornets challenge for a playoff position after years of mediocrity.

Leyton Orient is a good destination for the former Southampton youngster to head to, with Richie Wellens needing a left-back in his ranks as they look to salvage this season.

However, with Caleb Wiley’s loan spell cut short by injury, Morris’s presence is needed at Vicarage Road for the time being as support for Bola.

Whether a new signing emerges remains to be seen, but for now, Orient will have to wait to sign their key target and head into the weekend’s match against Reading using Tom James as a makeshift option.
