Leyton Orient have confirmed that the loan spells of Tayo Adaramola and Joe White have been terminated with immediate effect, with both players returning to their parent clubs.
The move allows manager Richie Wellens to begin shuffling his pack in the winter window, after their aspirations of a play-off push on the back of last season’s top six finish faded in late 2025.
The two leaving
Adaramola, 22, departs Brisbane Road having made 18 appearances in all competitions after joining on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace last summer. A naturally attack-minded left-sided defender, he was primarily deployed at left back and left wing back under Wellens.
The Dublin-born Republic of Ireland youth international has accumulated a broad range of loan experience despite his age. After progressing through the Crystal Palace academy, he made senior FA Cup appearances before spells with Coventry City, Belgian side RWD Molenbeek, Stockport County and Bradford City. His time at Valley Parade proved particularly successful, featuring 16 times as Bradford secured promotion to League One during the 2024–25 season.
White, 23, returns to Newcastle United after fewer appearances for the O’s, having made six outings since arriving on loan in July. An attacking midfielder by trade, White has built a reputation as a productive Football League performer away from St James’ Park.
A Carlisle native, White began his career with Carlisle United before joining Newcastle’s academy in 2016. His development has included loan spells at Hartlepool United, Exeter City and Crewe Alexandra, before a standout campaign with Milton Keynes Dons last season. During that spell, he scored six goals in 34 League Two appearances, establishing himself as a consistent creative outlet from midfield.
Leyton Orient confirmed the departures in a brief club statement, thanking both players for their efforts and wishing them well in their future careers.
“Leyton Orient can confirm that it has ended the loan deals of Joe White and Tayo Adaramola with immediate effect.
“The duo joined the O’s from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, respectively, in the summer.
“White made six appearances in Orient colours during the first half of the 2025/26 campaign, while Adaramola turned out on 19 occasions.
“The club would like to thank both players for their efforts and wish them all the best in their future careers.”
Orient struggles demand rebuild
The double exit comes at a challenging moment for Wellens’ side. Orient have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and currently sit one point and one place above the League One relegation zone, a stark contrast to last season’s run to the play-off final.
Freeing up loan spots and wages will allow them to once again tap into a market they have had success in. Charlie Kelman is an obvious example, a shining light last season during his loan spell. If they’re to avoid a relegation fight come the early spring, they’ll need to be savvy with their next round of loans.
Attention now turns to Saturday’s home fixture against league leaders Cardiff City, with Orient seeking a response as they attempt to pull clear of the bottom end of the table.
