Lincoln City Boss Praises His ‘Magic Man’

Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala has heaped praise on Jack Moylan after the Irish attacker bagged a brace in City’s League One victory over Burton Albion at the LNER Stadium on Thursday night.

Moylan’s double inched the Imps closer to league leaders Cardiff City, securing a 15th win of the campaign.

Moylan Takes Praise From Skubala

Lincoln overcame a spirited Burton side to move to within three points of top of the table Cardiff City, albeit having played a game more than the Bluebirds.

The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries this season, missing a large chunk of the campaign from the middle of August to mid-November. Since his return to the side, the former Shelbourne man has provided three goals and three assists, as the Imps have gone 10 matches unbeaten to keep up their promotion push.

In a report on RTE.ie, Skubala has revealed the nickname he has for the League of Ireland product.

“We call Jack the magic man as he finds these magic moments.”

“Sometimes in these tight games, you need that sort of individual. I thought his first goal was magnificent, and the second one, he scores those types of goals all the time in training.”

Moylan cracked home a stunning 25-yard opener after 35 minutes that found the net via the post before grabbing the winner 10 minutes into the second half after a Freddie Draper shot was spilled by Burton Albion keeper Bradley Collins.

Moylan Could Be Key To Successful End To Season

Moylan’s match-winning display kept the chasing pack at arm’s length, helping Skubala’s side open a six-point gap over third-placed Bradford City ahead of the clash between the pair at the LNER on Tuesday night.

The former Bohemian man’s return to regular action could be the difference as the Imps head into the business end of the season.

Burton had beaten City on each of their last four visits to Lincolnshire in all competitions and had quickly become something of a bogey side for the promotion-chasing Imps. Last night’s victory was perhaps a sign that Skubala’s side can break down a stubborn opponent and grind out a vital three points, something that has perhaps been beyond them in recent seasons.

Moylan’s piece of brilliance and opportunism was good enough to snatch a win last night, and, as his manager has said, he could be the one to unlock defences and earn those valuable points during the run-in.

The Irishman has been eased back into action following his lengthy spell on the sidelines, and both he and his manager will be hopeful he can add to his six-goal involvements as City look to continue their fine form in a huge clash with the Bantams on Tuesday.
