Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala and wide-man Dylan Duffy heap praise on the in-form Jack Moylan.
It comes after he scored his second brace in as many games on Tuesday night.
In quotes provided to LincSport, after the Irishman contributed two goals and an assist in the Imps 6-0 thrashing of Garry Monk’s Cambridge United, the pair spoke highly of the versatile Moylan.
What’s been said?
Speaking to LincSport, Duffy said: “That fella is absolutely flying. Me and Jack live together and I’m just absolutely delighted for him, it couldn’t happen to a better bloke, honestly.”
The Imps boss added: “We used him in a role that was inside and outside depending on how the press is. He found those little pockets. I thought his work rate without the ball, especially in the first-half, was electric.”
In-form Irishman:
Jack Moylan was handed his first start for Lincoln in the goalless draw to Stevenage, playing in an un-familiar central-midfield role. He impressed, but was back on the bench as Skubala’s men travelled to Oakwell the following Saturday.
However, the 22-year-old came on at half-time and scored two goals – the first a mazing run through the Barnsley team, and the second a long-range effort that nestled into the bottom corner.
Moylan repeated his goalscoring feat just three days later, scoring two in the first-half against a Cambridge side that were ruthlessly blown away at the LNER Stadium.
He sealed his move from Irish Premier Division outfit Shelbourne, managed by Damian Duff, at the start of the January transfer window.
It took last season’s Shels top-scorer close to two months to force his way into starting-11, but he seems to have grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Play-off push:
The Irishman is at the forefront of a Lincoln side that has scored 11 goals in just two games. The 6-0 victory over Cambridge was the first time City had won by that scoreline since 1977, when they beat Nuneaton Town in a FA Cup tie.
Skubala’s side are now unbeaten in twelve games. It’s a run that has brought them within striking distance of Steve Evans’ Stevenage side in the last play-off spot.
Lincoln’s defence has been the key feature of their good run, conceding just four goals across the unbeaten streak. They’re clean sheet against the U’s was a fourth in five games, with Adam Phillips‘ strike for Barnsley the only goal they’ve conceded in their last five outings.
However, the focus is now on the attack too. A ruthlessness in front of goal has made Lincoln a more dangerous force in SkyBet League One, putting pressure on their fellow play-off chasers.
