Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala provides injury update

Lincoln City’s head coach Michael Skubala provided Imps fans with injury news after his side’s draw with Barnsley.

There was good and bad news for the Imps, with the good news being that Ted Bishop returned as a second-half substitute.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire‘s Michael Hortin, Skubala said: “That was nice to see. I think we all see his quality.”

The Imps have been plagued by injury troubles all season, missing the likes of Tyler Walker and Ben House in their attacking ranks. Dutch centre-back Lewis Montsma also remains out with a long term absnece.

Defender Sean Roughan also missed the visit of Barnsley.

The former Leeds United under-21s head coach said: “He’s been away with Ireland [national team] for two tough games and he felt something, we think he might’ve picked it up in Ireland. It was just too much of a risk with the bodies we’ve got out at the minute. So, it’s just being careful, because if we keep losing bodied we’re going to be even more under the pump.”

Lasse Sorensen left the field in the second-half with a knock. When asked by LincSport’s Jamie Johnson about a possible injury, Skubala said: “Lasse covers lots of kilometres, he’s done loads of games, so we’ll have to assess it. I think he’s just really tired and we have to be honest, he gives everything, every game. So, I think he’s just really tired after all the games he’s been playing.”

Tyler Walker has been reported as back in training over recent weeks, so may not be far away from bolstering the Imps attacking options.

Skubala was clear to stress that: “One thing we don’t want to do with players is put them on and they come off and we lose them for another six weeks.”

Writer’s View:

A lengthy injury list has been a permanent feature at the LNER Stadium this season. The Barnsley game brought good and bad news, with Ted Bishop returning, while Sean Roughan remained out.

Lincoln City will be hoping the fan-favourite Lasse Sorensen is just “tired” and nothing more, as the Dane is an important cog in the Imps machine.
