Lincoln City Issue Transfer Update as Reported Bid of £1.5 Million Submitted

Lincoln City

Lincoln City have had a relatively quiet transfer window in terms of incomings and now face the possibility of losing another key player following the departures of the likes of Ethan Erhahon, Sean Roughan and Paudie O’Connor.

The latest star to attract interest is 21-year-old Jovon Makama, who burst onto the League One scene with 13 goal involvements as the Imps narrowly missed out on the 2025 playoffs.

Lincoln City Attacker’s Breakthrough Campaign

Makama is an academy graduate who has accumulated 97 appearances for Lincoln City and scored 15 goals, but his game elevated to a new level in 2024/25, and he topped the charts for goal involvements at the club with 13 in League One last season.

The forward scored in each of the three rounds of the 2025 FA Cup to bring his goal tally into double figures in all competitions. He highlighted his potential to EFL supporters with a stunning hat-trick and assist in a 5-0 win over Bristol Rovers in March.

In addition to his goal-scoring ability, Makama is comfortable taking on defenders, meaning his versatility stretches to being able to play in wide areas. He ranked in the top three at Lincoln City for successful dribbles per game in League One last season, with a completion rate of almost 50%.

However, the player has been left out of the matchday squad for the season-opener against Reading, with the club issuing an update on his future.

Bid Accepted For Key Man

Lincoln City have announced on their official X page that Makama has been left out of the matchday squad as the club has accepted a bid from an unnamed Championship side. The fee has been quoted as being in the £1.5 million range, according to commentary during their League One match against Reading.

If the fee is in the region of that amount, it would represent a good deal for Lincoln City; however, they will need to add to the squad before the end of the transfer window after losing several key players this summer. Significant fees are being floated for strikers at this level in the 2025 summer transfer window.

The club received a fee for Erhahon and will need to reinvest if they are to compete for promotion to the Championship. The Imps face an away trip to AFC Wimbledon next week, and you can see all of the upcoming fixtures here for Lincoln City with The Deck.
