Lincoln City Join Race For Six-Goal Forward

Lincoln City

Lincoln City have joined the race to sign Northampton Town forward Louis Appéré this summer but face competition from several other League One sides, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The 25-year-old had a promising campaign for Northampton Town last season, helping to secure their highest league finish in over a decade and has now been the subject of numerous third-tier interest ahead of the window opening next month.

How did Appéré fair last season?

In all competitions for the Cobblers last season, the Scotsman made 41 appearances, scoring six goals and providing two additional assists with all eight arriving in League One alone.

In terms of his in-depth statistics from the 2023/24 campaign, Appéré created 1.53 chances per 90 minutes for the Cobblers last season, as well as an average of 0.33 goals per game.

The forward also drew 1.26 foul wins per 90 minutes as well as winning 70% of his tackles and 3.7 duel wins per match, proving to be a handful up front for the Cobblers.

Which clubs have been credited with an interest?

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Appéré has attracted interest from numerous League One sides ahead of the summer transfer window in case he opts to leave Northampton Town.

Play-off semi-finalists Barnsley have been credited with an interest whilst Lincoln City, Stevenage, Blackpool and newly promoted Mansfield are all also reportedly keen to sign the 25-year-old this summer. However, Bailey also stated that those were “amongst” several sides, suggesting there could be more teams keen to make a move.

Would a move to Lincoln be beneficial for Appéré?

Lincoln City suffered an injury crisis in the final third last season with the likes of Ben House and Tyler Walker both suffering injuries whilst Freddie Draper spent the first half of the campaign in League Two with Walsall.

Therefore, the Imps are likely (not confirmed) to be looking for attacking reinforcements this summer in a bid to ensure they don’t fall short of the play-offs this time around.

Appéré would be working with a squad full of players of a similar age as well as experiencing a lot of first-team football which will only continue to improve the Scotsman’s development if a move were to occur.
