Lincoln City Plot Move For 25-Year-Old

Lincoln City Latest News

Lincoln City are reportedly targeting a summer move for Blackpool full-back Jordan Gabriel, according to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon (paywall).

The 25-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract at Bloomfield Road and is attracting a series of interest from fellow EFL sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

How has Gabriel faired so far this season?

The full-back joined Blackpool on a permanent deal from Nottingham Forest following an impressive loan spell but has had his game time reduced this season due to injuries.

Gabriel has made 23 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals and has operated as both a right-back and right-midfielder for Neil Critchley’s side so far this season.

Why might Lincoln be interested?

The full-back has League One promotion experience with Blackpool, which would be a useful asset to Lincoln City who are continuously building towards a promotion charge of their own in the third tier.

Similarly, Gabriel is quick and versatile which are both qualities that Lincoln City tend to pursue in their recruitment, plus he has experience in both the second and third tier which could be of significant use for the Imps.

Also, with Jack Burroughs heading back to Coventry in the summer and the future of Lasse Sorensen uncertain, the club are likely to need reinforcements in that area of the pitch.

Will the league make a difference?

Currently, Lincoln City and Blackpool are competing for a place in the League One play-off places, with the Imps occupying the final spot in the top six.

However, Alan Nixon has since confirmed that the Imps will pursue a move for Jordan Gabriel regardless of whether Lincoln gains promotion or not.

The full-back will have 12 months on his contract in the summer and has previously played with Lincoln City striker Tyler Walker at Nottingham Forest, which could make a difference.
