Lincoln City target Josh Honohan is set to be involved in talks with League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers regarding his future ahead of a potential move.
The 24-year-old has been an integral part of Shamrock Rovers’ side during the 2025 season so far – but unsurprisingly his form has attracted interest from clubs elsewhere.
It appears as though he may be allowed to discuss a potential exit away from the football club before Monday’s 7pm deadline.
Lincoln target set for talks
As reported by the Irish Mirror, Shamrock Rovers’ hierarchy will meet on deadline day to discuss the future of wing-back Josh Honohan ahead of a potential departure.
Honohan has been the subject of a transfer bid from League One side Lincoln City over the weekend and it appears as though he could be in a position to make the move across to England before the transfer window closes.
He is under contract at Shamrock Rovers until December 2026, meaning a sizeable fee will be required by the Imps to bring him into the club today.
How has he fared so far this season?
After struggling in his previous campaign, Honohan has kicked on significantly during the ongoing 2025 season.
After making his first appearance of the season during a UEFA Conference League qualifier against Molde, he’s continued to push on and establish himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet.
Across all competitions, Honohan has registered a total of 28 appearances for Shamrock Rovers, contributing eight goals in the process.
Is the deal likely to go ahead?
During a transfer window, if a club doesn’t want a certain player to leave they will reject bids outright.
However, in this instance the Irish side have opted to hold talks with the player regarding his future, which could be interpreted as a willingness to allow him to move on if he wanted.
There is a bid from Lincoln City on the table and the Imps also have a successful history when it comes to developing players from the Irish Premiership, making them an attractive club for a player like Honohan to join.
