Luton Town are taking their business to the brink, with a deal in place with Cheltenham Town for one of their star forwards.
Reportedly submitting a bid for Barnsley’s Adam Phillips earlier, the Hatters have additionally agreed a deal with Cheltenham Town.
Luton Town Agree Fee for Cheltenham Winger
According to reports from Pete O’Rourke, Ethon Archer is set to sign for Luton Town.
However, the winger is still set to wear the Cheltenham red and white, immediately returning on loan as part of the deal.
The structure of this deal is similar to those performed in the past by Luton Town. When John McAtee’s move from Grimsby Town in 2022 saw the striker return to Blundell Park on loan imminently.
Cheltenham fans will be particularly happy to see the deal play out like this.
Archer’s departure has been almost inevitable all summer, and with the club currently struggling in League Two, maintaining their star assets is fundamental to their survival bid.
If a move saw the wideman depart to play in the league above, Michael Flynn would be left with his back against the wall trying to find a replacement on deadline day.
Who is Ethon Archer?
Archer is one of the standout talents for the Robins, tallying eight goals and six assists last year. Alongside Jordan Thomas, the pair are amongst the most exciting young forwards in League Two.
Joining Torquay United from, the 23-year-old is one of the quickest emerging talents in the EFL.

Sending Archer back out on loan to League Two could be a wise move from Luton Town.
Having only made the step-up from regional football last summer, another period in League Two may be wise.
Due to the fact that Luton are currently challenging at the top end of League One, immediately stepping up into the first team squad at Kenilworth Road could have been too vast a step for the wide-man.
Therefore, remaining in League Two could allow for a more natural progression. Much of Luton’s investment from the lower divisions has been met with an eye for the future rather than the present, and this move is just that.
