Luton Town Confirm Deal For £2.8m Striker

Luton Town striker Lasse Nordås has completed a loan move to Dutch Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old will spend the second half of the campaign in the Netherlands as he looks for regular senior minutes away from Kenilworth Road.

Nordås joined Luton Town from Tromsø in February 2025 in a deal understood to be worth around £2.8m, arriving with a growing reputation from the Norwegian Eliteserien. Standing at 1.94m, the striker was viewed as a long-term investment, but opportunities have been limited across his first year in English football.

Disappointing Luton spell

Nordås has made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Hatters, scoring four times, with three of those goals coming in the EFL Trophy. His last outing for the club came in mid-December, which has to be classed as a poor return for a high-profile arrival, so the decision has now been taken to allow him to gain experience elsewhere during the run-in.

The move will see Nordås test himself in the Eredivisie with SC Heerenveen, who currently sit in the top half of the table following the winter break. Heerenveen technical manager Johan Hansma highlighted Nordås’ physical presence and penalty-box awareness, describing him as a player capable of adding an attacking boost for the second half of the season.

“Lasse is a physically strong, left-footed striker of 1.94 meters,” Hansma said on the club website.

“He’s strong both on the ground and in the air, a true team player, and has a good sense of positioning in the penalty area. We’re pleased to add an attacking boost to the squad with him.”

The loan represents another chapter in a career that has already taken Nordås through Strømmen, Bodø/Glimt and Tromsø, where his most productive spell came during the 2024 Eliteserien campaign with nine league goals. He has also been a regular at youth international level for Norway, featuring across the under-19, under-20 and under-21 sides.

For Nordås, the coming months in the Netherlands will be an opportunity to build momentum and confidence, with Luton hopeful that the experience will accelerate the development of a player they committed significant funds to less than a year ago. If they don’t go up, it is also a chance for an asset to accrue some value and maybe bring a return at the end of the season.

Another move for Luton

Meanwhile, Luton have also confirmed that forward Taylan Harris has returned to the club following his loan spell at Tranmere Rovers. The 20-year-old made 19 appearances in League Two, scoring once, but is still awaiting his senior debut for the Hatters.

The Hatters have three home games in a row coming up, with Stevenage the visitors to Kenilworth Road this weekend. They then face Swindon in the EFL Trophy, before a huge clash with promotion hopefuls Lincoln a week on Saturday.
