Luton Town have begun talks with midfielder Marvelous Nakamba to terminate his contract amid links to Sheffield Wednesday.
The Zimbabwe international, who joined permanently in 2023 from Aston Villa, has out of the picture at Kenilworth Road this season, playing just 16 minutes total in League One under previous Hatters boss Matt Bloomfield.
Nakamba To Fill Owls Void
It seems that Nakamba’s spell at Luton is close to an end, with new reports from Joe Crann within the Sheffield Star stating that Jack Wilshere’s side are in talks with the 32-year-old to cancel his contract, which could free up a move for Sheffield Wednesday to sign him.
The Owls are in dire need of reinforcements amid EFL embargoes, and look set to contact league officials in order to try and sign the midfielder as a free agent following his exit from Bedfordshire, having initially eyed a loan move for the Zimbabwe captain.

Henrik Pedersen’s side took a massive blow earlier this week with the confirmation of Barry Bannan’s exit, bringing to an end over a decade-long spell at Hillsborough to join Millwall for an undisclosed fee.
Wednesday are looking to do other business with Luton Town, eyeing a loan move for striker Jerry Yates as Jack Wilshere looks to cut down his squad numbers ahead of the transfer deadline in a few days’ time.
January has already seen two key figures leave on loan spells after Millenic Alli headed back into the second tier with Portsmouth, while striker Lasse Nordas headed to the Netherlands to play with SC Heerenveen.
Can Nakamba Deliver?
In what has been a tough season for him so far, an exit from Luton Town is likely the best course of action for Marvelous Nakamba going forward.
He has been out of Jack Wilshere’s plans since his arrival, and despite missing a chunk of the season to represent Zimbabwe at AFCON, he has not been able to displace players like Liam Walsh and Jordan Clark in the former Norwich City coaches’ plans.
Moving to Sheffield Wednesday is an intriguing prospect, with the Owls looking for a new, experienced leader following the loss of Barry Bannan, and bringing in someone with a wealth of experience like Nakamba could be a good choice.
Alongside proven Championship goalscorer Jerry Yates, Henrik Pedersen should be able to give his side a few new options and give a good account of themselves heading into what will be a decisive summer as they look to stabilise in League One.
