Luton Town trio Thelo Aasgaard, Tahith Chong and Thomas Kaminski are all facing summer switches to the Championship, following the clubs relegation back to League One.
The trio have more than played their part during their respective times at the club but are highly-unlikely to play their part for the Hatters in League One next season for their own respective reasons.
Matt Bloomfield‘s side have already lost experienced striker Carlton Morris to Derby County, but now they face the possibility of even more big departures occurring as the club begins their return to pre-season.
Luton Town trio tipped for exit
As reported by journalist Darren Witcoop, Luton Town trio Thelo Aasgaard, Tahith Chong and Thomas Kaminski have all been linked with a move to the Championship over the coming weeks, with one individual already having a named side interested.
This individual is Hatters goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski who has emerged as a transfer target for newly-promoted side Charlton Athletic.
Meanwhile, Thelo Aasgaard could be set for an exit just six months after joining the club due to international football. There is reportedly pressure on Aasgaard to stay in the Championship if he wants to stand an opportunity of making it into their national team moving forward.
Tahith Chong is the only one of the three that hasn’t had a reasoning revealed yet or a club named, but given his success in the Championship previously, it isn’t necessarily a surprise to see him in the conversation.
Are their moves to the Championship justified?
Beginning between the sticks, Kaminski made 47 appearances across all competitions for Luton last season, keeping ten clean sheets – which in itself isn’t a bad return. However, he did concede 71 goals last season which may come across as a slight concern, though that number isn’t solely down to him.
Aagaard spent the first half of the season with Wigan Athletic in League One, contributing to ten league goals in 26 matches before joining Luton in January. With the Hatters, he contributed to three goals and proved he could hold his own in the Championship.
Chong meanwhile had a significantly quieter 2024/25 season with the Hatters, registering just three goal contributions across 30 matches. However, he is another that is unlikely to want to feature in League One next season.
Who else could leave Luton Town?
Similarly, Millenic Alli has recently been linked with a move to the Championship too, as has full-back Alfie Doughty which only increases Luton’s woes heading into the summer transfer window.
If all players opt to leave the club, Luton would have a huge financial boost but would lose a lot of talent and quality which will make their transition to League One football even more challenging.
