Man Utd Targeting Blockbuster Premier League Transfer of World Cup Winner

Manchester United

Man Utd are considering moving for World Cup winning goalkeeper Emi Martinez from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

The goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford is up in the air, with the future of current number one Andre Onana uncertain. The player has failed to live up to expectations since joining the club under former boss Erik ten Hag and could be moved on, if a suitable buyer can be found.

However, selling Onana will not be easy with his on the book value still high and poor performances over the last couple of seasons. There was some tentative interest from Saudi-based clubs but no move has come to fruition so far.

It is likely that Ruben Amorim will need to offload him to bring in another first choice shot-stopper.

Martinez “pushing” for Man Utd Deal

The news of Martinez’s desire to move to Old Trafford has been widely reported, with THE DECK sources confirming the interest as “real and serious”.

The player is pushing for a move to the club but may be forced to wait whilst the Red Devils balance the books. With the financial situation resetting in nine days, and high profile moves such as Bryan Mbeumo and the striker situation still needing resolving it could be some time before the club’s decision makers can focus on the goalkeepers.

A deal for Martinez is estimated to cost in the region of £40million from Aston Villa, meaning that players such as Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho and Antony will likely have to be sold. With the club also hoping to sign Victor Gyokeres a large amount of cash will need to be brought into the club in the near future.

Red Devils Ambitions

After suffering the club’s worst Premier League campaign Amorim will need to improve his club’s fortunes quickly. However, he has been handed a difficult start with Arsenal on the first game of the season with fixtures against Liverpool and Chelsea in the first few weeks. It is therefore important for any player to come in early to get up to scratch with the manager’s very particular style of football.
