Manchester City Battle West Ham United for 6ft3 Defender

Premier League duo Manchester City and West Ham United have been credited with an interest of League One Rotherham United centre half Harrison Duncan after impressing at youth levels for Steve Evans’ side.

The Millers have not got off to the dream start in League One as yet and sit in 17th as the promotion hopefuls have only won once in their opening six games.

The 6ft3in defender has been training with the first team squad after his performances in the under-18 set up alerted interested parties to his ability. It is speculated by Alan Nixon that he may feature for the senior side soon.

The report, names the Premier League giants as two of the clubs who have been watching his performances at youth level indicating that the League One side are “bracing themselves for major offers”.

Manchester City have invested heavily in their academy system since the takeover in the 2000s as they look to start producing their own talent for the first team. Some of those results have begun to show with the likes of Phil Foden progressing to become a star for the club and for his country.

West Ham United have always had a decent progression of youth into senior football; having developed the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Declan Rice and Paul Ince amongst others.

Both sides offer a decent prospect for the youngster to make it in topflight football and it may be a difficult decision to pick between the two if both decide to make a move.

Rotherham are not as flush with cash as some of their EFL counterparts and the influx of cash from a potential sale could prove to be a massive boost for a player that isn’t even in the first team if they are able to spend it wisely, if a move materialises.
