Manchester City Star Requests ‘Immediate’ Transfer

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has requested a transfer away from the club, with him set to end his career away from the Manchester unit this transfer window

Walker joined the Cityzens in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur and has become a staple in their defence ever since his arrival.

He has won six Premier League’s, four domestic cups, and one UEFA Champions League title during his time with the club.

Despite all the success he has achieved, his time in the Premier League is seemingly coming to an end.

Walker set to Leave Manchester City?

Sky Sports have reported Pep Guardiola’s comments that Kyle Walker has requested to leave Manchester City to explore new options.

Walker was left out of the squad during Saturday’s 8-0 win against Salford City, which Guardiola has confirmed was due to his request to leave the club.

Pep stated that, “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore options to play abroad and end his career.”

Although Walker was named the club captain for the 2024/25 season, it seems that Pep will need to appoint a new captain if Walker’s departure is set to be in January.

How has Walker Performed this Season?

Walker has featured in 15 of the Cityzens’ 20 Premier League matches this season, but he has struggled for form compared to the last couple of seasons.

As a club captain, he is expected to be ever-present in the side. Despite this, he has only started nine times due to his poor form throughout this season.

With City seemingly finding other players to fill the gap he leaves already, Walker’s decision may be the best to keep his career alive, with not many years of it left.

Is it Time for Walker to Move on?

It is evident that the Englishman has fallen out of favour with Guardiola, and a move may be the best idea so that Walker can enjoy the last years of his career.

Although he has enjoyed an illustrious career with the Cityzens, it would be a huge shame if he was to tarnish his legacy as a club legend if he remained with the club while he was struggling.

He has proven himself to be one of the best right-backs the division has ever seen, and a move abroad will be the perfect way to protect that legacy as he starts the final chapter of his fantastic career.
