Manchester United star, Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly expected to sign for Premier League rivals, Chelsea.
The winger has been on United’s transfer list since May alongside Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia. Chelsea have already seen multiple bids rejected however, they are expected to finalise a move this week.
Alejandro Garnacho Close To Chelsea Move from Man UTD
According to Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, Chelsea are expected to sign Alejandro Garnacho from rivals, Manchester United.
The deal has taken some time to come to fruition; however, the clubs are now likely to reach an agreement this week. Personal terms are already in place for the Argentinian to make the switch to West London.
Manchester United continue to insist on £50 million for the winger with Chelsea are expected to match that before the September 1st deadline.
The 21-year-old was told by Ruben Amorim that he is not part of his plans this season and kept away from the squad. This came after Garnacho’s public rant about not starting in the Europa League final despite playing a key role in the knockout rounds.
How Did Garnacho Fare Last Season?
Garnacho played 58 times in all competitions last season. The Argentinian winger scored 11 times and assisted a further 10. Most of his goal contributions came in the cup competitions, however.
With Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, Garnacho won’t be a big miss for the Red Devils. Garnacho plays primarily as a winger. Amorim’s system doesn’t allow for wingers. Instead it focuses more on wingbacks and inside forwards.
Chelsea’s priority at the moment is the sales of Christopher Nkunku and Nicholas Jackson. Both forwards are expected to leave on permanent deals before next Monday’s deadline. Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Aston Villa are among the suitors for both players.
Garnacho will likely be played in a cup role under Enzo Maresca. With Pedro Neto, Estevao and Joao Pedro all in fine form, it’s hard to see where he gets his minutes from in the Premier League. However, Maresca could get the most out of Garnacho. The 21 year old’s potential is clear to see.
