Manchester United Agree Andre Onana Departure

Manchester United have agreed a deal for the departure of goalkeeper Andre Onana after the purchase of Senne Lammens this Premier League summer transfer window.

The former number one keeper has been under an increasingly level of scrutiny due to his high-profile mistakes that put the Red Devils on track for their worst ever Premier League season.

Whilst he was not the only one to blame, the signing of a new goalkeeper was deemed to be a priority. This became especially clear after Bayindir’s mistake against Arsenal and Onana’s horror show at League Two Grimsby Town.

Despite agreeing terms with Emi Martinez, the club opted for the younger Senne Lammens as their new goalkeeper. But with the transfer window shut options were limited for departures. Saudi and Turkish clubs could still pursue a deal, but a permanent deal was deemed to be unlikely.

Andre Onana Departure Nears Completion After Manchester United Deal Agreed with Trabzonspor

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have agreed a deal with Turkish side Trabzonspor for the loan departure of Andre Onana. The two clubs have a verbal agreement in place, but the decision now lies with the goalkeeper.

Ruben Amorim was reportedly unhappy with Onana, who returned to the club after last season’s disastrous finish asking for a bigger contract.

With Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko still bedding it it may take time for new signing Lammens to fully get up to speed with the Premier League. However, Bayindir has been the club’s choice for number one since the start of the season and may well keep the place for the first couple of games.

At present it is unknown whether Onana will agree a deal, but with his gametime clearly limited as the third or even fourth choice on the club’s books it may be best for all involved.
