Manchester United have set the price tag for one player who could find himself leaving Old Trafford this summer.
United are expected to have an overhaul of players this summer as Ruben Amorim gets his first pre-season with the Red Devils.
Lots of their incomings and outgoings will likely depend on if they win the Europa League and subsequently qualify for the Champions League.
One player that’s expected to leave either way this summer is Brazilian winger, Antony. He’s currently impressing on loan at Real Betis, and the Spanish side are keen to keep him there. They’ve now found out how much it’s likely to cost them.
Manchester United set the asking price for Antony
Spanish media outlet, El Chiringuito, reported that Man United will be asking for between £34million and £42million. Although it’s some way off the £86million they paid Ajax in 2022, it’s still a healthy figure that could be reinvested in the side.
Real Betis are expected to attempt to sign Antony on a permanent transfer this summer, but El Chiringuito have confirmed Atlético Madrid are also considering a move for him.
Antony’s Spanish revival
Antony never really found his feet while at Old Trafford. He struggled under Erik ten Hag and then under Amorim, but at Real Betis, he’s rediscovered his form.
In 12 La Liga outings, Antony’s received an average Sofascore rating of 7.43. This is thanks to three goals and two assists in those games.
Creatively, he’s been a constant threat for Betis. He’s created eight big chances and averaged 2.8 key passes per game.
Betis are also flying in the Europa Conference League, with Antony helping them all the way to the semi-final – which they currently lead Fiorentina 2-1 from the first leg.
The winger has scored three goals and assisted two in seven appearances in the Conference League. He’ll likely be hoping he gets the chance to help them lift the trophy.
What next for Antony and Man United?
It does look likely that his time is up at Old Trafford. He was never able to live up to the big price tag, something that probably didn’t help him.
A move to La Liga seems most likely. He’s done well since joining on loan and is loved by most at Betis. The only question mark would be if they can pay the fee United are asking for, and if not, would Manchester United budge?
Atletico Madrid is likely to be an exciting prospect for Antony. They are a team that’s often challenging both domestically and in Europe.
The Brazilian looks set to have a big decision to make this summer.
