Premier League giants Manchester United have suffered a disastrous season and may well have to face the remaining games without one of their key players.

The Red Devils sit 14th in the table, 19 points off 6th placed Chelsea and 22 points away from the Champions League spots.

They are already safe from relegation, but Ruben Amorim’s side could still qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europe League.

They will have to overcome Athletic Bilbao to reach the final where one of Tottenham Hotspur and Bodo/Glimt will be waiting for them.

However, their route to the final may be a little bit more difficult with a fresh injury potentially ruling out a key player for the rest of the season.

Fresh Manchester United Injury Disrupts Plans

Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot has played a key role this season, whilst some of his performances have been criticised his versatility and ability to fill in on the left hand side of the pitch (swapping with Mazraoui) as Shaw and Malacia had issues earlier in the season before the signing of Dorgu has been vital in keeping the team going.

However, Ruben Amorim has confirmed that he will be out for the next few games and could well miss the rest of the season as he recovers from a calf injury.

“Diogo will be out for the next games… and it’s possible also for the rest of the season”

The fresh Manchester United injury news will be disappointing for his compatriot who has already had to delve into the academy and youth players throughout his tenure to fill gaps in a threadbare squad.

Early Signings Key for Man Utd

Such is the disaster of the 2024/25 season that Ruben Amorim has had to field questions regarding whether players will still want to move to Old Trafford. However, he has assured fans that there are plenty of players who still want to come to the club and stressed that early business is key for next season.

Amorim plays a very different style to what many of the Manchester United players are used to and it became increasingly clear that several of them will never be able to fit into the system that will be used next season. Early business could be vital in ensuring that the new players can adapt to the style and work with the current players to understand moves.

If they get off to a bad start next season we could be set to see another change at the top and they will be hoping to have players fit to avoid another Manchester United injury crisis.
