Manchester United Midfielder Secures Move to League One Club

Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Jack Moorhouse featured on the bench for the Red Devils last season and now looks set to take the next step in his development as a loan move to League One is reportedly close to completion.

The 19-year-old is an Irish under-21 international and was named on the substitutes bench for the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon. He also made the squad for Premier League outings against Tottenham and Arsenal in 2025.

Jack Moorhouse Appears Ready For Next Step

Ruben Amorim has some difficult decisions to make this summer in terms of departures, but the future of the talented midfielder will be one of the most straightforward. Despite not having made a senior appearance, his inclusion in the squad for some important ties in 2024/25 highlights how highly rated the player is.

Moorhouse played ten times for the Red Devils’ development squad at Premier League 2 level last season, scoring three goals to help the team reach the campaign-closing play-offs.

There was a bit of hype around the player when he was called into the squad in 2025, but having not made a competitive appearance for the Premier League side, the next stage in his development is regular senior football. He will not get that at Old Trafford this coming season, it seems, so a loan move appears to be the best option.

Manchester United Midfielder Set For League One

League One is shaping up to be a competitive campaign, with several clubs appearing capable of a promotion push, and one of those is Richie Wellen’s Leyton Orient. The O’s were beaten at Wembley Stadium by Charlton Athletic in the play-off final and have recruited some talented players in their bid to go one better.

Aaron Connolly and Josh Koroma are two of several impressive additions, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Moorhouse will be the latest arrival on loan, having signed a new deal at Old Trafford.

The journalist states that a number of unnamed clubs were in the running for the midfielder but that the League One side have won the race for the Manchester United academy star. His development will be an interesting watch, as there is the potential here for this to be an excellent addition to the Leyton Orient playing squad.

Moorhouse is not the only talented midfielder set for a temporary move away this summer, with 21-year-old Toby Collyer another linked with a loan ahead of the upcoming EFL campaign.
