Manchester United are ready to see off Premier League competition in Nottingham Forest and England star Elliot Anderson.
The Red Devils are reportedly ready to splash over £70 million in January in the hopes of beating rivals Manchester City, Newcastle United and Chelsea to the signing.
Ruben Amorim’s side had been hoping to wait until the summer transfer window to try again for Carlos Baleba but the opportunity to sign Anderson could be too good to turn down.
The midfielder has been one of the stand out stars in 2025, whilst also impressing Thomas Tuchel for England. With his stock rising, it is felt that there would be more chance to bring him to Old Trafford if they make a move in January rather than waiting until the end of the season.
Elliot Anderson – Manchester United Midfield Solution?
Manchester United have a clear issue in the centre of the park. They currently play with two central midfielders. One position is currently occupied by Bruno Fernandes and the other by Casemiro, with Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte competing from the bench.
Amorim’s style usually requires a high energy and highly tenacious number 6 or 8. This is missing in the current squad. Anderson would certainly provide this in abundance. His ability to disrupt play, gain possession and start attacks is what has alerted Tuchel to his ability.
Whether or not he can be the solution will very much depend on competition. Forest are unlikely to be willing to allow one of their star players to leave mid way through the campaign, which will open the door to Man Utd’s rivals.
With Amorim also keen to bring in an experienced striker to help Sesko too, it could be one step too far after a heavy summer outlay on the likes of Cunha, Mbeumo, Lammens and Sesko.
