Manchester United Reject Approach for £43m Forward

Attentions at Old Trafford have firmly been on the pursuit of striker target Benjamin Sesko. But now with Manchester United finally getting their man, they can look to offload some of their outcasts.

Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia have all be told to find new clubs. Barcelona agreed a loan deal for the former, but the other four have their fate in the air.

Alejandro Garnacho is flirting with Chelsea, turning down other offers. Sancho had the chance to join the Blues but refused to lower his wage demands and Malacia has no interest at the moment.

However, prospects for Antony look more promising. Saudi interest was turned down but Real Betis and now Benfica are both actively pursuing a deal.

Manchester United Turn Down Initial Approach for Antony

Real Betis had been hoping to bring Antony back to the club following his successful loan spell last season. They saw a bid for a percentage of his future economic value rejected and have continued pursuing a loan deal.

However, Benfica have now entered the race, and although they too want a loan, there is more optimism. They may be willing to offer to buy a percentage of the player to lower the £43m price tag demanded by Ruben Amorim’s side.

The Red Devils do favour a full deal and have rejected the initial loan approach. This was first reported by Bruno Andrade and confirmed by The Football Deck sources.

What next for Antony?

Manchester United have two options, wait for a club to come and offer the full valuation and risk keeping him, or accept a less favourable deal. Any future connection to the player is not ideal with the financial condition of the club and Ruben Amorim will not want to risk having him on the wage bill next season.
