Manchester United are increasing their urgency to complete numerous deals before deadline day. It promises to be another chaotic end to the transfer window, with the club now set to move one of their talents to the Championship.

After it was earlier reported that Emiliano Martinez had agreed terms to join United, the Red Devils are still very much active in the transfer market. That is set to continue right up until the 7 pm deadline on Monday.

Manchester United Youngster Set for First Loan Move

According to Simon Stone, Manchester United youngster Harry Amass is set to join Championship Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan.

There is no buy option for Wednesday, with the Red Devils seeking regular senior game time for the 18-year-old defender.

The former Watford academy player has been lined up for a loan move all summer, after the arrival of fellow left-back Diego Leon.

Despite making seven impressive first-team appearances at the end of last season, Amass was omitted from Ruben Amorim’s pre-season squad. The youngster made his Premier League debut in March against Leicester City.

Numerous other Championship sides were interested in securing the defender’s services temporarily. However, United have chosen the Owls to ensure Amass gets the highest chance at regular gametime.

Good Move for All Parties?

For Manchester United, this is a good move. Amass showed glimpses of his potential in the handful of first-team games he appeared in towards the end of last season.

A season in the Championship will hugely benefit Amass, which could mean the 18-year-old pushing for a starting spot in Amorim’s side next season.

Additionally, for Amass, this is also a good move. As previously mentioned, a season in the Championship will hugely benefit the 18-year-old. The intensity of the league and the regular fixtures will demand that Amass learn and grow quickly. As a result, the young defender will only return to Old Trafford as a more developed and mature player.

For Sheffield Wednesday, this is also a beneficial move. Amass’s energy and technical ability will benefit the Owls’ left-hand side.

After a winless start to the season, a fresh face could be just what Henrik Pedersen needs to kick-start Wednesday’s season.
