Premier League side Manchester United are set to submit a second bid for Brentford player Bryan Mbeumo. This follows the rejection of a first bid by the Bees for the Cameroon international.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for the majority of the summer transfer window. However, with an improved offer, this deal could edge even closer to completion over the coming days.
Manchester United To Submit Second Bid For Bryan Mbuemo
Manchester United are preparing to submit a second bid for Bryan Mbuemo, who excelled during the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. The talented attacker would become United’s second signing following the arrival of Matheus Cunha earlier in the summer transfer window. The targeting of Mbeumo comes as a part of an essential summer window for the Red Devils.
Reports from several sources including David Ornstein confirmed the Old Trafford outfit were targeting the 25 year old. But, now, Sky Sports have reported that United are preparing to make a second bid for the attacker.
Mbuemo’s Monumental 2024-25 Premier League Campaign
The 25 year old’s largely successful Premier League 2024-25 season has been pivotal in attracting the interest of Manchester United. During the campaign, the Cameroon international was able to score 20 goals whilst adding 7 assists to his collection.
Furthermore, he was able to execute 52 successful dribbles whilst also creating 70 chances. These performances have impressed teams and pundits alike including Manchester United.
However, these performances built on his 2023-24 Premier League campaign. In that season, he was able to lay the foundations for immense success through 9 goals and 6 assists. As we can see, this campaign has been the result of the foundations and hard work put in by the 25 year 0ld.
Why Sign Bryan Mbeumo?
Whilst the Brentford attacker may be an arguably good all-round player, he does have some key strengths that make him stand out amongst other options.
One of these is the goals he contributes to a side. His 20 goals during the Premier League campaign puts him as the 5th highest scorer. Furthermore, it puts him as the 2nd highest scoring winger in the English top flight during the season – only behind Mohammed Salah. His ability to contribute a suitable amount of goals would benefit any side he joins.
Whilst his goals are a pivotal strength, Mbeumo’s on the ball skills are arguably just as impressive. With 177 touches in opposition boxes, the attacker is a constant presence in the box. As well as this, the fact that he had a 52.5% successful rate mean that for the majority, he didn’t just have the ball. Instead, he was able to dribble with it therefore pushing his Brentford side higher up the field and closer to the opposition goal.
These two strengths are essential if he is succeed at United. But, his ability to get back and defend consistently is also impressive. This can be seen through the fact that he made 31 tackles during the 2024-25 Premier League season. Furthermore, he was able to win 179 duels and 35 aerial duels. These statistics show his ability to defend where needed and arguably his commitment to a team in running from one side of the field to the other just to defend with high quality for a side.
Overall, the three strengths outlined are just a few things of what Bryan Mbeumo offers a team. However, they are three things that are pivotal for Mbeumo to stand out. As well as this, they are qualities that would positively impact a Manchester United side that only scored 44 goals last season and a side that conceded on 54 occasions.
Where Does He Fit In A Manchester United Side?
Typically, Mbeumo would play on the right wing – just as he did with Brentford last season. However, this is not possible in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
Therefore, we may see the 25 year old take up the right central attacking midfielder role in the system. This position would be best suited to the attacker as it would give him the opportunity to go out wide if he wanted. Furthermore, it would allow him to be closer to goal which would suit Mbeumo’s shooting style that saw him take 85 shots last season.
A Potentially Good Addition?
If Bryan Mbeumo was to join Manchester United, the Red Devils would be getting a well cultured and very talented attacking player. However, with competition from Tottenham Hotspur, the signing of Mbeumo will not be easy.
But, the effort to sign the 25 year old may be the effort needed by Ruben Amorim to push United back towards success and the glory days of the 2000s.
