Manchester United – Update Emerges on Ruben Amorim Sack

Ruben Amorim Manchester United Sack Update

Manchester United face a make-or-break Premier League fixture against Sunderland before October’s international break. However, the attention of the fans and much of the media is firmly on the future of boss Ruben Amorim.

The former Sporting manager has been in situ less than a year. Having taken over from Erik ten Hag following a poor start to the season.

The club’s form did not improve, with Amorim recording just seven wins in the Premier League in his first season with 14 defeats. This left the Red Devils languishing towards the bottom of the table in their worst ever Premier League finish.

Man Utd Optimism Destroyed

Optimism was high for his first full season in charge. A brand new £200m front line and some impressive pre-season performances glossed over the glaring issues still in the squad.

The midfield had been neglected for years and continues to be a major issue for the squad. Casimiro is aging, Ugarte is yet to prove himself, Mainoo is overlooked and Bruno isn’t a true central midfielder.

The goalkeeping department also needed urgent work. Andre Onana was a calamitous signing and Altay Bayindir proved to be a weak deputy. Instead of signing an experienced and first team ready option such as Emi Martinez, they decided to add the young goalkeeper Senne Lammens. A player who is yet to appear for the club.

This has left Ruben Amorim attempting to construct a side to play his particular style of football, with players who do not suit it.

Whilst these are clear issues, his refusal to adapt and/change to better suit the squad at his disposal is what has irked fans of the club.

Prompting widespread calls for Ruben Amorim to be replaced.

Ruben Amorim Manchester United Sacking Update

Reports have been circulating the media since Manchester United’s defeat at the hands of Brentford in the Premier League, that several managers had been placed on a short list.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the club currently have no plans to sack their manager. Contrary to reports suggesting Sir Gareth Southgate had been contacted, he suggested that no manager had been contacted, shortlisted or identified as a possible replacement.

This may come as a shock to many who had speculated that this may be the final game to prove himself, with the international break often the breeding ground for managerial changes.

Whilst Ruben Amorim has stated he does not fear the sack, it will likely come as a welcome relief in an increasingly negative news environment.

It would not be unlike Manchester UnitedManchester United to change their mind, and if they are well beaten by the Black Cats it could prompt a rapid change in thinking. However, as it stands Ruben Amorim will remain in charge.
