Manchester United vs Burnley preview as United have had a difficult start to the season. Despite playing well against Arsenal on the opening day, they couldn’t convert their chances and lost 1-0. At Craven Cottage in their first away game to Fulham, Bruno Fernandes skied a penalty over the bar and after taking a second-half lead through Leny Yoro, conceded from a cross into Emile Smith-Rowe to draw 1-1.
The biggest shock and concern of the season so far came in the shock Carabao Cup exit to League Two Grimsby. With a pretty strong side, United went 2-0 down. It was only with the further introduction of Matthijs De Ligt, Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount that they were able to bring it back to 2-2. The game went to penalties, which saw every player taking and all scoring apart from Matheus Cunha, who was the final taker of the original five. Benjamin Sesko interestingly took the 10th United penalty, the final of any outfielder.
Burnley have had a positive start to the season for a newly promoted side. They won their second game of the season against Sunderland to bring them to three points. Last season, after five matches, no promoted team had received more than three points. Josh Cullen scored the opener against Sunderland with a lovely backheeled pass from Jaidon Anthony. They returned the favour for each other and Cullen assisted Anthony to win the game 2-0.
Burnley won their second-round Carabao Cup tie with Derby thanks to a last-minute winner from right back Oliver Sonne. Burnley fully rotated from the team which had played in the league.
