Denmark and Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund is rumoured to be the subject of interest from three Serie A sides.
The 22-year-old joined United from Italian side Atalanta for around £65.5 million in August of 2023 but has struggled to make his mark in the Premier League.
Juventus and Napoli are among the sides interested in the 2024 FA Cup winner and have been making calls about his availability since March, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Champions League finalists Inter Milan are now also rumoured to have expressed an interest in Højlund, who may be keen to return to Italy after a difficult spell in Manchester.
Højlund has scored 26 times during his 94 appearances for the Red Devils and started their Europa League Final Loss to Tottenham Hotspur in May.
Højlund’s Future Under Amorim Uncertain
Manchester United may be set for a year of restructuring next season, with Ruben Amorim given his first summer transfer window in charge.
With no European football next season, United do look set for an overhaul with major names like Rashford, Garnacho and Onana all linked with moves away.
Rasmus Højlund may also be next on the list, along with fellow ex-Serie A striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has also struggled to make the grade in the Premier League.
If rumours of a reunion between Amorim and Viktor Gyokeres are also to be believed, then Højlund does appear to be moving towards the exit.
Where next for Rasmus Højlund?
Juventus are among the names interested in bringing the Danish international back to the Serie A, where Højlund impressed with Atalanta with 14 goals and assists in 34 games.
The Turin side is also set for a rebuild following the sacking of Thiago Motta and the appointment of Igor Tudor in March. Tudor’s side has secured European football for next season, but which competition they will play in will come down to the final day of the season.
Tudor will also be looking to stabilise his side by finalising the future of star striker Dusan Vlahovic, who looks to be leaving this summer, and may be replaced by Højlund.
Napoli, led by Antonio Conte, are also monitoring the situation closely. With Romelu Lukaku ageing and Victor Osimhen looking for the exit once he returns from Turkey, the Serie A challengers are looking to bolster their front line for next season’s Champions League campaign.
The Parthenopeans have also been linked with Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has enjoyed a prolific season with the East Midlands team.
Inter Milan—Champions League finalists this season—have long admired Højlund and may reignite their interest now that his transfer fee has dropped. With Marko Arnautović and Joaquín Correa both out of contract this summer, the Nerazzurri may be in the market for a cut-price new striker.
