Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reportedly begun talks with Barcelona over a summer move to the club after teaming up with a new agent to facilitate the move.
The forward joined Aston Villa on loan in the January transfer window and there was a possibility he could sign for the Premier League side permanently. However his desire to move abroad to Spain has prompted him to team up with Pini Zahavi to make the move happen.
Marcus Rashford from Manchester United to Barcelona
When the possibility of Marcus Rashford leaving Man Utd became a possibility moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs were touted, including Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan. However, it was reported from an early stage that the English forward wanted to move to La Liga.
Moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona never materialised with the latter having the more serious interest, and neither did the other European moves leaving Rashford to move to Aston Villa or remain with Ruben Amorim’s side.
Now according to Sky CH talks have commenced between the Catalan giants and Rashford’s representatives over personal terms. The Red Devils are reportedly asking for approximately 35million euros, a fee which Barcelona are currently unwilling to pay despite the expected departure of Robert Lewandowski and other big names. This ultimately rules out Aston Villa making the deal permanent, something of which Unai Emery’s side were not planning to do anyway.
Can Rashford Revitalise his Career at Barcelona?
So long as Ruben Amorim is at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford won’t be. The coach and the player clearly did not see eye to eye on professionalism and the way players should behave. But the player’s issues started long before that with inconsistency and a lack of cutting edge clearly impacting his performances.
He has regained a bit of his mojo since playing for the Villans, but has perhaps not been the success he would have hoped. But La Liga has a far less physical style of play which should allow Rashford to thrive. His darting powerful runs to get in behind defences are suited to play in Spain even if he is missing some of the technical ability.
Man Utd Transfer News Could Help Plans
Manchester United need to sell to buy to offset some of their financial issues after such a disastrous season. The money gained from Rashford’s sale can be put down as pure profit, which makes selling the likes of Mainoo and Garnacho more appealing than their stars that have been purchased from elsewhere.
