Mercedes-AMG F1 Team have today announced a multi-year deal with sportswear giants adidas.
It’s a deal which brings together two of the most successful brands in sport over the last decade.
Mercedes have won seven World Drivers’ Championships since 2014, as well as eight Constructors’ World Championships.
adidas are a huge name in the sportswear and kit manufacturing industry, making shirts for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Arsenal.
The deal with the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team will see adidas “create a complete range of apparel, footwear, and accessories” which fans will be able to buy.
It will also involve adidas designing team kit, built to individual specifications, which fans will also be able to purchase.
Several limited-edition drops, potentially including driver specific and race specific designs, are expected as well throughout the season.
The first range of clothing will be unveiled in February.
Mercedes F1 clothing had previously been made by Puma, whilst there is also an existing relationship with Tommy Hilfiger, although given the deals close affiliation to now Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, that deal may have also reached a conclusion.
The 2025 season, including six new full-time rookie drivers, will get underway in Australia on the 14th March when Free Practice gets underway in Australia.
What have adidas and Mercedes said about the deal?
Bjørn Gulden, who is the CEO of adidas, said that the deal will help people see the sport of Formula One through a new lens.
“We will support the drivers and the team to push the limits on the track. Off the track we will bring a fresh perspective to the sport by introducing exciting lifestyle product and extending the reach to a new generation of fans,” he said.
Gulden also said that “Interest in motorsport in general and Formula 1 in particular has been growing a lot. It is reaching new consumers and has a big influence on sport and street culture. We are extremely proud to introduce the Three Stripes into F1.”
Toto Wolff is the Co-owner, CEO, and Team Principal of Mercedes F1 team. He says the deal is a “clear statement of intent” from the team.
“adidas is an iconic brand, one that shares our dedication not only to peak performance but to style and sophistication too,” Wolff also said.
The team principal goes on to say “We are excited to break this new ground and work with adidas as we collectively strive to fight for world championships.”
